Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd. is a world-leading automobile and motorcycle component manufacturer that was established in 1938. They focus on the development and manufacturing of power transmission systems and chassis components.

We interviewed some MIIDEL users who have used it in the precision component manufacturing process.

MIIDEL (M): How does Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd. use MIIDEL in their daily operations? Is it mainly used to spot differences between old and new manufacturing drawings?

Mr Saito: That's right, some of our customers provide physical paper drawings, so we need not only to compare digital files but also PDF scans of paper drawings with handwritten comments. These scans can sometimes be distorted but we must still carefully verify everything entrusted to us by the clients.

Before implementing MIIDEL, we would pair the original drawings with their copies, using red and blue pens to double-check the copy. Now, we simply attach MIIDEl's comparison results to the original drawing for approval. It makes the approval process much easier.

Additionally, MIIDEL is also used to check revisions in associated forms.

After considering ways to improve their drawing verification process and researching online, Mr Saito and Mr Eto discovered MIIDEL.

M: How often are forms revised?

Mr Nagayama: It depends, sometimes there is none and at other times we get dozens at once. When clients make changes to their specifications, it affects all the other parts designated for that particular client.

Saito: And when there are changes, all the associated documents and forms involved must be synchronized and updated accordingly.

M: It seems like when the workload suddenly peaks, it would affect other tasks as well. Are these reviews done regularly or do they happen unexpectedly?

Saito: Checks can happen suddenly when needed but there are also regular audits. The automotive industry work system follows the IATF* standards, This means that when changes are done on a form, it has a cascading effect on other parts, requiring us to go through everything again thoroughly.

Nagayama: This was a disaster in the past but it has gotten much easier now!

M: What was the deciding factor in choosing to implement MIIDEL?

Mr. Eto: I was investigating difficulties within the department and a significant one was the manual process of checking and reviewing documents and drawings. After discussing the issue, I consulted Saito and began to research various tools, narrowing it down to 3 products, including MIIDEL, for trial use.

After listing out the features and functions we wanted and assessing their feasibility, MIIDEL was the best match. We found that the other products had too many buttons which made them difficult to use while others had intricate settings. When it comes to ease of use, MIIDEL has an overwhelming advantage.

Saito: One of the features I thought was especially useful on MIIDEL was the ability to select a part of a drawing, move it to a preferred location, and have it automatically snap into place for comparison. Drawings often have layout changes when new information is added in, such as dimension lines. Sometimes, tables have to be moved to make space for additional parts,or we simply need to rearrange the pre-existing contents. This particular feature is one of the main reasons I highly recommend MIIDEL.

Other than that, I was also surprised at how quickly MIIDEL evolved. It's only been a year since we started using it and many new features have been added that made it even easier to use. We didn't take this into account when deciding to adopt it so it has been a pleasant surprise.

M: Thank you for choosing MIIDEL among the other options. It does sound like it has helped improve your efficiency in proofreading documents.

Nagayama: We (Mr. Nagayama, and Mr. Fujita) have been using MIIDEL the most and both of our work times have been halved. Comparing digital data is even faster.

Fujita and Nagayama are the ones who use MIIDEL the most.

Mr. Fujita: You can feel the benefit most when you need to compare a lot of pages at once. In the past, we had to double-check everything, which took exponentially more time.

Eto: It's not just streamlining traditional tasks but also for other tasks such as revising estimates, modifying drawings, or making minor verifications.

Nagayama: Me too, I sometimes use it to understand differences between similar components, even if it's not related to checking or approvals. Additionally, it is also great at identifying changes made to PowerPoint presentations. Since the digital file and the paper size are the same, comparisons are clear and easy to understand.

M: It's great to hear MIIDEL being used daily!

Fujita: It is incredibly intuitive and anyone can start using it by just watching others. I am very satisfied with it.

Saito: It's also great that every new version meets more of the user's needs and implements the features we request. I am looking forward to MIIDEL8!

M: Thank you! We are thrilled to hear that we are helping such hard-working professionals. Thank you very much for sharing your valuable insights with us today!
