Supporting Error Detection by Document Synthesis in Complementary Relationships

2018/7/10

Equipped with a function to accurately merge two different documents into one

TRIART Co., Ltd. (located in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; CEO: Kentaro Imazu) has added new features to and started offering MIIDEL ver.3, an image comparison difference system that compares images and drawings and extracts changes. MIIDEL ver.3 is a system that compares two different image data such as documents, drawings, and photos, and highlights their differences to prevent missed changes in contracts and processes. It features MIIDEL's proprietary feature point recognition technology※1 and an automatic correction function※2 that corrects and compares images distorted by different paper sizes or digital camera and scanner acquisition. It has been well received mainly in manufacturing industries including construction and automotive sectors, and since its release in April 2016, it has been introduced to over 400 companies.
This time, the MIIDEL update has equipped this automatic correction function with new features. By specifying key points of documents, it performs synthesis tailored to the user's intent, addressing the need to combine and verify two complementary documents. By specifying the features to align between each document, it accurately synthesizes two different documents and assists in discovering new findings such as inconsistencies caused by errors within drawings that were previously unnoticed. MIIDEL will continue to aim to improve user satisfaction and strive to expand new services and functions as a system to promote work style reform and operational efficiency.

Examples of Utilizing the New Feature

With the cooperation of Associate Professor Mariko Nagase of Kyushu Institute of Technology, we compared Shakespeare's bibliographic data and achieved efficiency in identifying differences in the printing process (see Image 1). Images and drawings that were difficult to verify by visual comparison are automatically corrected by specifying key points. The improved matching rate enables identification and comparison of subtle differences in documents.

In construction drawings, by comparing different drawings such as architectural and structural drawings of the same building, it has become possible to detect in advance issues such as discrepancies in column and wall positions, structural inconsistencies, and misalignment of equipment piping (see Image 2).
