Released 'MIIDEL3' which efficiently detects small differences difficult to discern visually

2018/3/27

TRIART Inc., a research and development venture company in the field of information security (pronounced: Toraiāto, headquartered in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, CEO: Kentaro Imazu, hereinafter TRIART), has applied its image analysis technology to the drawing comparison system 'MIIDEL' (pronounced: Mīderu), and has now equipped it with AI (artificial intelligence) image analysis feature detection and distortion correction functions, newly launching the service as 'MIIDEL version 3'.

MIIDEL is a drawing comparison system that eliminates oversights of change points that are difficult to visually discern during the checking of new and old drawings and documents. Since its release in April 2016, it has already been introduced to over 200 companies. It is widely used in various situations, mainly in the construction industry, for checking drawing change points in the workplace, comparing estimation drawings with contract drawings, and comparing construction drawings with design drawings.

We are pleased to announce the release of the new version "MIIDEL version 3," which incorporates further enhanced features in response to customer requests. In this version 3, the system automatically recognizes the characteristics of the documents to be compared, detects similarities, corrects distortions, and then performs the comparison process. With this functionality, it becomes possible to compare documents of different sizes or those with distortions caused by scanners or digital cameras, which was previously difficult. Additionally, the detection of changes between documents, which was previously challenging, simplifies the task of comparing drawings. The scope of application has expanded beyond drawings to include everyday document comparisons, making it a system that can efficiently detect subtle changes that are difficult to discern visually, and can be utilized across a wider range of industries.

Overview of MIIDEL

In the construction process of buildings, it is extremely important to accurately communicate information downstream from the preparation of construction drawings divided by specialized trades after estimation, to the actual construction. However, manual handling of drawings can lead to oversights and communication errors, potentially causing significant rework or ordering mistakes during construction. In response to such feedback from the field, MIIDEL was created as a system that efficiently and clearly "finds" changes.

Overview of MIIDEL version 3

In version 3, the automatic analysis feature enables faster and easier processing of drawing comparisons. Even if the scales differ between the before and after drawings, the system performs comparisons after optimal adjustments such as enlargement, reduction, rotation, and partial stretching. It can also automatically adjust multiple pages, allowing users to perform other tasks during the comparison process.

Users have reported improved work efficiency as the system clearly displays changes not only in drawings but also in specifications and estimates.

Furthermore, with the capability of automatic size correction, comparisons between different formats have become possible. This includes comparisons between scanned images and PDF drawings, as well as between aged blueprints and photos taken with smartphones, expanding the use beyond traditional drawing comparisons.

Thus, MIIDEL version 3 has expanded its scope beyond drawings to various document comparisons, serving as a system that efficiently detects small changes and can be used in various applications. It reduces the workload of those involved in business operations and is expected to be utilized widely as a solution contributing to Japan's "Work Style Reform."
